Our Central Charity Team

At North West First Responder Group, our team is made up of dedicated volunteers from all walks of life who share one common goal – to make a difference in our community when it matters most. Trained by the North West Ambulance Service, our responders are ordinary people doing extraordinary things: providing life-saving care in those crucial first minutes of a medical emergency before an ambulance arrives.

But our work doesn’t stop there. We are also passionate about helping local people feel more confident in an emergency. That’s why our team delivers free CPR and defibrillator awareness sessions across the Wirral, Liverpool, Neston & Ellesmere Port, giving schools, community groups, and businesses the knowledge and skills that could one day save a life.

Beyond the uniforms, our team is made up of neighbours, friends, colleagues, and family members who have chosen to give their time and skills to support others. Together, we bring compassion, professionalism, and a strong sense of community spirit to everything we do.

Josh Bailey

Chief Executive

Josh is the Chief Executive of the organisation, providing strategic leadership and overseeing its ongoing development and impact. Alongside his executive role, Josh is the Team Leader for Wirral First Responders and serves as an Enhanced First Responder himself. With hands-on operational experience and a strong commitment to community care, Josh plays a key role in ensuring the highest standards of response, leadership, and support across the team.

Robin Gerrard

Chief Operating Officer

Robin is the Chief Operating Officer, responsible for the day-to-day operations and ensuring the organisation runs efficiently and effectively. He is also a Community First Responder on the Wirral, bringing valuable frontline experience to his role. Outside of his work with the charity, Robin is a qualified First Aid Instructor, sharing his knowledge and skills to help others feel confident in emergency situations.

Josh Verdes-Reinke

Deputy Chief Operating Officer

Josh supports the operational delivery of the North West First Responder Group, helping ensure our teams, projects, and community initiatives run effectively across our region. Working closely with the central leadership team, he assists with organisational coordination, strategic development, and supporting volunteers to deliver lifesaving work within their communities.

Zoe Weaver

Training & Safeguarding Lead

Zoe is the Training and Safeguarding Lead, responsible for overseeing training standards and ensuring the highest levels of safety and wellbeing across the organisation. She is also a Community First Responder based in Neston, bringing valuable frontline experience to her role. When not working with the charity, Zoe is a First Aid Instructor and is actively involved in delivering CPR and AED awareness training to the public within the local community.

Ramona Verdes-Reinke

Communications & Fundraising Lead

The Communications and Fundraising Lead is responsible for driving income generation, public support, and effective communication to sustain and grow our impact locally and across surrounding areas.

This role directly supports emergency response in our community while enhancing public awareness and building sustainable funding for life-saving initiatives across the North West.

Jay Sterling

Area Operations Lead

Jay is the Area Operations Lead, supporting the different areas and locations across the charity. He is also a Community First Responder on the Wirral, bringing valuable frontline experience to his role. When not working for the charity, Jay is a qualified tree surgeon, applying the same care, precision, and commitment to safety in his professional work.

David Gray

Community Defibrillator Lead

David is the Community Defibrillator Lead, overseeing the installation, maintenance, and accessibility of public defibrillators across the community. He is also a Community First Responder on the Wirral, bringing valuable frontline experience to his role. When not working for the charity or responding to incidents, David is a qualified electrician, using his technical expertise to further support community safety.

Paramedic & Educator

Joe is a Paramedic and Educator who supports the charity through CPR and AED Awareness sessions, helping to educate and empower the community with lifesaving skills. He also provides valuable support to the team with training and fundraising initiatives. When not working with the charity, Joe is a Paramedic with North West Ambulance Service, bringing extensive frontline experience and professional expertise to his role.
