Our Central Charity Team

At North West First Responder Group, our team is made up of dedicated volunteers from all walks of life who share one common goal – to make a difference in our community when it matters most. Trained by the North West Ambulance Service, our responders are ordinary people doing extraordinary things: providing life-saving care in those crucial first minutes of a medical emergency before an ambulance arrives.

But our work doesn’t stop there. We are also passionate about helping local people feel more confident in an emergency. That’s why our team delivers free CPR and defibrillator awareness sessions across the Wirral, Liverpool, Neston & Ellesmere Port, giving schools, community groups, and businesses the knowledge and skills that could one day save a life.

Beyond the uniforms, our team is made up of neighbours, friends, colleagues, and family members who have chosen to give their time and skills to support others. Together, we bring compassion, professionalism, and a strong sense of community spirit to everything we do.

Chief Executive

Josh is the Chief Executive, leading the organisation’s strategy, growth, and impact. He also serves as Team Leader for Wirral First Responders and as an Enhanced Community First Responder, bringing frontline experience into his leadership.

Josh is passionate about delivering high standards of care and supporting volunteers to make a life-saving difference across our communities.

Robin Gerrard

Chief Operating Officer

Robin is the Chief Operating Officer, leading the organisation’s day-to-day operations and ensuring effective delivery across all areas. He also serves as a Community First Responder on the Wirral, bringing frontline experience into his role.

As a qualified First Aid Instructor, Robin is passionate about helping others gain the confidence to act in an emergency.

Josh Verdes-Reinke

Deputy Chief Operating Officer

Josh is the Deputy Chief Operating Officer, supporting the delivery of operations across the organisation and ensuring effective coordination of teams, projects, and community initiatives. He works closely with the Central Leadership Team to support strategic development, maintain high standards, and provide guidance to volunteers and area teams. Through this role, Josh helps enable the charity to deliver consistent, life-saving support across the region.

Zoe Weaver

Training & Safeguarding Lead

Zoe is the Training and Safeguarding Lead, responsible for maintaining high training standards and promoting safety and wellbeing across the organisation. She also serves as a Community First Responder in Neston, bringing frontline experience into her role. As a First Aid Instructor, Zoe is actively involved in delivering CPR and AED awareness sessions, helping equip communities with the skills and confidence to save lives.

Ramona Verdes-Reinke

Communications & Fundraising Lead

Ramona is the Communications & Fundraising Lead, leading on income generation, public engagement, and communications across the organisation. She works to raise awareness, build strong community relationships, and secure funding to support life-saving initiatives. Through her work, Ramona helps ensure the charity remains visible, sustainable, and able to support frontline response across the North West.

Jay Sterling

Area Operations Lead

Jay is the Area Operations Lead, supporting the coordination and delivery of activity across the charity’s areas and teams. He works closely with Area Coordinators and volunteers to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery across the organisation. Jay also serves as a Community First Responder on the Wirral, bringing frontline experience into his role, and is a qualified tree surgeon, where he applies a strong focus on safety and precision.

Community Defibrillator Lead

David is the Community Defibrillator Lead, leading on the installation, maintenance, and accessibility of public access defibrillators across the community. He works to ensure devices are available and rescue-ready, helping save lives when every second counts. David also serves as a Community First Responder on the Wirral, bringing frontline experience into his role, and is a qualified electrician, using his technical expertise to support community safety.

Our Support Team plays a vital role in supporting the work of the North West First Responder Group.

Made up of Communications Officers, Fundraising Officers, and Paramedics/Educators, they ensure our charity runs effectively behind the scenes. From raising awareness and securing funding, to delivering CPR & AED Awareness Sessions and supporting volunteer development, their work enables us to reach more people and save more lives across our communities.

Our Area Teams

Our Area Teams lead the delivery of our operations within their local communities.

They are responsible for coordinating volunteers, supporting day-to-day activities, and ensuring our services run effectively at a local level. Working closely with the Central Team, they help deliver a consistent, high-quality service while responding to the specific needs of their communities.
