May 2026 Newsletter – Supporting Our Communities, Saving Lives

North West First Responder Group – May 2026 Update

April was another incredibly busy and rewarding month for North West First Responder Group, with our teams continuing to make a real difference across the region.

Responding When It Matters Most

Throughout April, our volunteers attended 208 emergency incidents, including 71 Category 1 (life-threatening) calls and 137 Category 2 calls. Impressively, we arrived before an ambulance in 135 incidents, providing early care when every second counts. In total, our teams gave 685 hours of their time to supporting patients and their families across our communities.

Behind every number is a person, a family, and a moment where early intervention can save a life. We are incredibly proud of the commitment shown by our volunteers.

Supporting Our Communities

April saw us out and about across Merseyside and beyond, supporting large-scale events including the Aintree Races and major football fixtures. These events bring increased footfall, and our presence helps provide reassurance, rapid response, and visible community support.

We also continued delivering CPR & AED awareness sessions, including:

  1. Carlisle Racecourse Family Easter Day, where we engaged with the public and reinforced lifesaving skills

  2. A community session at St Theresa’s Church in Blacon, helping build confidence in responding to emergencies

Every session we deliver empowers more people with the knowledge and confidence to act in a cardiac emergency.

Working in Partnership

We’re proud to be working alongside organisations that share our vision. Our partnership with Recycling for Good Causes continues to turn unwanted items into vital funding, directly supporting our frontline work in the community.

We also recently announced an exciting collaboration with Spark Medical and The Pre-Hospital Academy. This partnership will enhance training opportunities for our volunteers, giving access to high-quality facilities, specialist education, and continued professional development—ultimately improving the care we provide.

Looking Ahead

As we move into May and beyond, our calendar remains packed with community events, awareness sessions, and opportunities to get involved. From local engagement events to larger public awareness days, we’re continuing to expand our reach and impact across the North West.

We’re also building momentum towards our 24-Hour CPR Marathon in October, a major event designed to bring communities together and equip even more people with lifesaving skills.

Get Involved

Everything we do is made possible through the support of our communities. Whether you want to:

  • Learn CPR

  • Volunteer your time

  • Support through fundraising

  • Help install a defibrillator in your area

There’s a place for you in our mission.

Together, we are saving lives and strengthening communities.
